The Kuwaiti dinar is used as currency in Kuwait. It was introduced in 1961 replacing the Gulf rupee. During a short while in 1990 the currency was replaced by the Iraqi dinar. The Kuwaiti dinar is issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait in Kuwait City.
