The new lev was introduced in 1999 as the currency of Bulgaria. It replaced the former currency also called lev, introduced already back in 1881. The currency has a fixed exchange rate to EUR since 2005.

Bulgaria is a republic in east Europe with coastal line to the Black Sea. There are around 7,6 million people with 1.2 in the capital - Sophia. One of the characteristics of the Bulgarian economy is the low income tax of only 10%.
